My coming out story was a bit different. I came out the year my birth country became a democracy. I was pretty young, but got kicked out of home. I finished high school and worked in a restaurant. Sparks flew that night. Fists flew.
Thing is…
I am grateful today. For living most of my life openly. My friends, my family, my clients. Everybody knows.
I have a beautiful partner that I get to share three godkids with.
I wish I could go back to that scared and angry kid and tell him…
“Hey you. Don’t you dare dream small for yourself. Don’t you dare dim that light. You have no idea of the beautiful things God has in store for you. Trust yourself, kid. You got this.”
We want to hear your story–here’s how to share it with us!
Each Sunday we feature a new Coming Out Story on the Latter Gay Stories blog. Coming out is an important process that is different for everyone; some experiences are difficult; while others are heart-warming and inspiring. Coming out is rarely easy–but your story will help others draw inspiration from your own experience. We rely on weekly submissions to keep the Coming Out Stories alive and invite you to share your story now.
