Conservative firebrand, and censured Utah State Board of Education member, Natalie Cline has lost her nomination for re-election. Cline will not appear on election ballots as the Republican candidate.

Cline has faced continual criticism for her brash and aggressive behavior against LGBTQ individuals and students. However, many conservative Utahns praised her actions as biblical and scriptural prophecy.

Natalie did not secure enough delegate votes to be included on the ballot for the general election. Republican candidate Amanda Bollinger is the nominee who secured 63% of the parties vote.

FUN FACT: you can thank a queer man for your “quad”. Seriously.

The King James Version of the Bible is the preferred Bible translation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—it’s also the version being peddled by Donald Trump. 😬🤓 But what some religious folks who promote the King James version don’t realize or—at least ignore—is the queerness of the king who commissioned it.

James was born in 1566 in Edinburgh and was named king of Scotland when he was just one year old, after his mother, Mary, Queen of Scots, was imprisoned, and his father, Lord Darnley was murdered. After he came of age, he pursued an alliance between Scotland and England, and was named king of England.

In 1604, a group of religious leaders in England discussed the need to retranslate the Bible because it was “corrupt and not answerable to the truth of the original.” James quickly became enthusiastic about the project and approved a list of scholars to work out the revision. The King James Version of the Bible was published in 1611.

The Bible wasn’t the only thing King James “knew”. He was a lover of men—literally. And chief among those lovers was George Villiers, earl and later duke of Buckingham.

Introduced to James I in August 1614, the charming Villiers soon replaced the King’s not-so-secret Scottish beau, Robert Carr, earl of Somerset.

Villers’ love of James (whom he called his “husband”) remained passionate and public until the end of his life. King James also maintained a relationship with his wife, Anne, who bore multiple children to the royal family.

A new miniseries titled Mary & George, shares the King’s story of love and fantasy. It premiered in Europe and is now streaming in the U.S. on Starz and Amazon Prime.
