They say 'it gets better,' but why does it have to start so hard? Every rainbow flag we wave isn’t just a symbol of pride—it’s a quiet rebellion against a world that still whispers 'fit in' when we know we were born different.

In our circles we celebrate diversity, yet too many still face rejection at home, judgment in the streets, or laws that lag behind our hearts.

Progress paints a pretty picture—marriage equality, visibility in media—but beneath it, the fight lingers. Was it just a moment in time, or were our experiences really accepted—really understood?

How many more coming-out stories will tremble with fear before they’re met with 'I already knew, and I love you anyway'? How many more victories must we claim before freedom isn’t a battle won, but a right we wake up to?

This isn’t just a question for the LGBTQ community—this isn’t Democrat or Republican—it’s for everyone who believes love shouldn’t need armor. That people are diverse. That life is not binary. And that human beings shouldn’t be currency bartered for political talking points.

Let’s talk about it—not litigate it.

And most of all, we’re not going to hide who we are to make others feel comfortable. We’re in this together.

The New York Times just dropped a bombshell from a Gallup survey: 1 in 10 U.S. adults now identify as LGBTQ—up from 3.5% in 2012.

Among Gen Z, it’s closer to 1 in 4–nearly 25% of adults 18-27.

But here’s the kicker—identifying as LGBTQ isn’t the same as being LGBTQ. The numbers aren’t climbing because more people are suddenly queer; they’re rising because more people feel safe to say it out loud—safe to identify.

In simple terms: more people are coming out of hiding.

Being LGBTQ is who you are—always has been, always will be. And more are now claiming it, publicly and privately, in a world that’s finally cracking open—finally opening the doors to the realities of human nature.

From marriage equality in 2015 the long list of trailblazers who’ve come out, the walls of shame are crumbling. Gen Z, with nearly 4.1% identifying as transgender and over half of LGBTQ adults identifying as bisexual (especially young women), they aren’t just more “queer”—they’re more out.

Social media fuels these coming out opportunities, linking people to stories that whisper, “You’re not alone.” And showing examples of healthy, successful, happy queer people.

So, 1 in 10 isn’t a tally of who’s LGBTQ—it’s a snapshot of who’s ready to tell us. The real number? Probably higher. Much higher. We look forward to the day when “coming out” isn’t even a thing.

Progress? Yes!
