Hi, I’m Miles Hunsaker.

For years, I hid a part of myself in a box, sealed with shame, fear, and denial. I believed I could bury it forever, striving for perfection through my marriage, church service, and family. Yet inside, I was broken, convinced I was unlovable. The hardest question I feared to face was, "Am I gay?"

My faith, my family, and my community left no room for that answer.

I married, had children, and did everything I was taught to achieve an ideal life, but it never filled the void inside. After my divorce, I dated women for years, but it only deepened my exhaustion and disconnect. Eventually, I sought a new path, and through therapy and community, I began to trust my inner voice. I could no longer hide who I truly was.

Coming out was painful and confusing, but it brought healing. I found love, belonging, and wholeness when I met my husband Jim, who showed me what true connection feels like. The parts of me I once tried to suppress now fill my life with color, spirituality, health, and peace. While this journey has meant leaving certain aspects of my faith behind, it has led me to a place where I can be fully seen and loved.

I want you to know that I am still myself —but now, people can see all of me. I’ve learned that I don’t suffer from being gay; society suffers from not understanding it. Thank you for allowing me to share my story with you. Your willingness to listen is a gift, and my door is always open to you.

You became who you needed to be to survive. You adapted, you protected yourself, and you did what was necessary to get through the hard times. That version of you deserves love and gratitude—they carried you when things felt impossible.

But survival isn’t the whole story. Now, it’s time to let go of what no longer serves you and step into the version of yourself that can truly thrive. The version that embraces joy, love, and authenticity. You’re not just here to get by—you’re here to grow, to heal, and to live fully.

Honor where you’ve been, but don’t be afraid to become who you’re meant to be.
