For generations, queer people have been told we are the problem. That our existence threatens faith. That our families are dangerous. That our freedom somehow comes at the expense of everyone else’s.

But wanting safety is not an agenda. Wanting equality is not radical. Wanting to live without fear is not an attack on anyone’s religion.

The real agenda is much older than us. It is control dressed up as conviction. Politics wrapped in scripture. Power protected by ā€œvalues.ā€ And every time, somehow, it is always ā€œabout the children.ā€

Faith should not be used as a weapon. Love does not need to be protected from people. It needs to be practiced for people.

And if your beliefs require someone else to suffer, maybe it is not your faith being tested.

Maybe it is your humanity.

Round 2:

The last two Mormon prophets told their people to be peacemakers. These are examples of their peacemaking.

This is why Pride still matters. It’s not because rainbow flags are trendy or because LGBTQ people are ā€œmaking everything about them,ā€ but because messages like these are still being sent, often in the name of faith.

Queer kids see these words. Families absorb them. Closeted people feel forced to stay silent.

That is why we Pride.

Visibility is not the problem, actually, visibility is the response. Pride is how we push back against shame, silence, and cruelty dressed up as righteousness.

We are still here.
We are not hiding.
And no LGBTQ person should have to believe they are alone—or than any of these comments are acceptable.
