Because June is Pride month I wanted to share about my family. This is my family. We laugh, we have fun, we play games, we argue, we get on each other’s nerves, we tease (probably a little too much sometimes), we have time out, we have rules, we have movie nights on the couch, we do puzzles, we play Barbies, we play school or house, we play games, we play four square with silly names for each square.

We talk about crushes, and Nick Jonas, we have nightmares, midnight throw up duty, fevers, ear aches, foods we love, foods we hate (none of them the same of course) we love ice cream, playing in the water, camping.

We make dinner together, do homework, work on spelling words, reading, and math. We cry, we fight, we go to the zoo, the aquarium, and Target. We get our feelings hurt, we apologize, we get our feelings hurt about something else. We go to movies, we go to plays, we love each other (some days more than others).

This is my family.

It’s two parents that love these 4 girls more than anything.

My family may not look like yours, your neighbors, or even the families in your “squad”. This isn’t a religious post, this isn’t a political post. This is a post about my family.

Some may look at this and see a beautiful family, some may look at this and see what they’ve been taught to see as “wrong”, some may even look at this and think “how disgusting”.

To those that feel that way I invite you go back and read what my family is. Doesn’t it sound a lot like yours? It may not look like yours but that doesn’t lessen that we are a family just like yours. My family is two parents that worry, stress, protect, and love more than any of these girls can possibly imagine.

Doesn’t that sound like your family?

I’m grateful for an amazing husband and these 4 bright, intelligent, powerful, beautiful girls.

This is my family and I love them with my whole heart.
